Ongoing campaigns
We are fighting on several fronts for a livable planet for all. In each of these campaigns, XR Philly plays an important part in bringing more rebels to the cause, planning and leading actions, and following the lead of front-line and environmental justice communities.

Southeastern Pennsylvania is a point of convergence of state-wide fracked gas infrastructure. Pipelines pass through our neighborhoods to massive terminals up and down the Delaware River. We are in fights to stop the construction, upgrading, and use of these pipelines and the facilities they feed. This is a multi-front battle that runs from the statehouse in Harrisburg to environmental justice communities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

The MACH2 hydrogen hub is a massive project promoted by the fossil fuel industry that says it will bring federal dollars and jobs to our region to build green energy infrastructure. But don’t believe the hype. MACH2 will never be green. The entire project is based on extracting hydrogen from fracked gas, which means more gas emissions and more toxic chemicals in our air and communities. Hydrogen is extremely dangerous and its production and combustion produces health and safety issues that are unacceptable to workers, first responders, and community residents.

Fossil fuel extraction and consumption doesn’t happen without finance. The climate movement in recent years has trained its sights on global fossil fuel finance in all its forms, including asset managers, banks, and insurance companies. Three campaigns that XR Philly is actively engaged in are the Vanguard SOS Campaign, Debt for Climate, and the Summer of Heat on Wall Street.
